?:abstract
  • In 1982 the European Community released the so called Friis report which analysed the situation of lone-parent families in the member countries. This paper is the sequel for the Federal Republic of Germany as part of an overall survey on all member countries. The results show that within the last 25 years, lone-parent families were a group with growing numbers and shares among all family types in West Germany. In particular mal heades units increased their portion but females were still the dominant type. The income situation of incomplete families was on average worse than for complete units. The share of lone-parent families living in poverty rose drastically since the sixties. (xsd:string)
