Evans, Kelley, and Wanner explore the effects of parental divorce on childhood education in American, Australia, and Canada. They find similar effects in all three countries, and find that divorce costs seven-tenths of a year of education. This is effect is growing among recent cohorts. Thus, they conclude that this pattern may be prevalent among modern industrial societies.
