  • "This dissertation seeks to examine the changing views of the population of the Federal Republic of Germany on different groups of immigrants and on issues relating to immigration in the Federal Republic of Germany between 1945 and 2006. An analysis and interpretation of the population's changing views on immigration and immigration-related issues also enable conclusions to be drawn about changing perceptions of belonging to Germany and the (West)German state in the period of investigation. The population's changing views on immigrants and immigrant groupings have been established by examining the results of opinion polls carried out in the former West-Germany before 1990 and in both sections of the newly reunified German state between 1990 and 2006.
