?:abstract
  • Market reforms in formerly socialist countries were enabled by women bearing substantial economic burdens related to restructuring, but they also benefited from decreases in non-market work and financial gains relative to men. In the Eastern European countries that began re-allocating wages toward women, their may also be the fringe benefits of better long-term economic growth. These gendered effects of restructuring seem to be due to the changes in the labor market institutions inherent in such transition. (xsd:string)
