  • The article analyses the October 29 2000 elections in Medellín. In the first part, it presents a contextualization of the process of the mayor election in the national field, and attempts to discuss some hypotheses that have become general tendencies. In the second part, the article presents a description of the way candidates were consolidated to the mayorality of Medellín, insisting in the mechanisms through which the candidates were elected and in the strategies used to place them in front of the electorate. The coincidences and the emphasis of each candidates proposals and programs and the publicity they used in the campaign are also shown. Finally, a quantitative analysis of the elections is made, through the use of some statistical tools. (xsd:string)
