  • The thesis is focused on the two aspects of study of political moods: basic and applied. In the theoretical part the author comes up to the definition of political mood through reviewing umbrella terms. First of all, the phenomenon of social moods is examined through defining what public opinion and mass consciousness is. Next, according to the theoretical analysis the author represents his own definition of the studied phenomenon – political mood. Moreover, the author analyses the process of transformations in Russian society from 1990s' till nowadays. The applied aspect of the scientific work provides analysis of data collected through an all-Russia poll fielded December 2017- January 2018. Respondents aged 18–30 y.o. were interviewed. The research method was polling on-line. In accordance with the author’s definition, the political moods are made up of the following categories: estimations of political life, political expectations and political participation. These categories serve as a basis for constituting indicator groups, which form the questionnaire. Estimations of political life include the following indicators: interest to politics; views on democracy; interaction with authorities; authorities performance estimation; political climate estimation; opposing attitudes estimation. Political expectations should be determined as the sum of expectations from authorities and from the presidential elections in March 2018. Political participation contains indicators like intention to participate in person in politics and the ways of this participation, willingness to vote and to protest. The author suggests reviewing the findings of the endogenous poll, where demographic specificities of political moods of the Russian youth are highlighted. (xsd:string)
