The article originated with a website that describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature, as follows: This article may have been believable to some readers because it was published on the heels of news reports that Congressman Jeff Van Drew was planning to switch from the Democrat Party to the Republican Party. While it's true that Van Drew, a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, not the Senate, did truly switch parties, as of this writing no senators have announced that they were switching parties due to a disagreement over the impeachment of Trump.
