A video shared on Facebook allegedly shows Arizona Democratic Sen. Kyrsten Sinema giving a speech while attending a rally with former President Donald Trump. Verdict: False This video has been digitally altered. The Twitter user who originally posted the video admitted in a tweet that he made the edit. Fact Check: Sinema left the Democratic Party Dec. 9 and registered as an independent, Fox News reported. Vermont Democrat Sen. Bernie Sanders, responding to the move, stated that Sinema’s decision helped sabotage important Congress legislation, The Guardian reported. A Facebook video claims to show Sinema holding a press conference with Trump to announce her decision to become independent. We can work with people who are different than us, Sinema appears to say. We can be friends with people who are different than us. We can love and care about people who are different than us. This video is digitally altered, however. The unedited YouTube video shows Trump bringing a woman on stage with him at the 42:51 timestamp. In the Facebook video, the woman’s face has been edited to show Sinema’s likeness, and uses audio and video from a YouTube video of a speech given by Sinema seen at the 3:00 mark. Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to suggest that Sinema made an appearance at a Trump rally or had ever attended one. The video was originally posted to Twitter by @ PaulDeeLicks , whose name appears in text near the bottom right corner. This Twitter user made a tweet admitting that he made the video. Funny thing is, I made this like 3 years ago and must’ve posted it 5 different times. The last time I did, I lost my account cuz high profile Dems were losing their minds over it cuz many of them were fooled – & articles were written & then before I could delete it, I was TOAST. — PaulLeeDicks (@PaulLeeDicks) December 10, 2022 Funny thing is, I made this like 3 years ago and must’ve posted it 5 different times, the tweet reads in part. This is not the first time misinformation has spread online. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim Starbucks released cups with demons on them for the holiday season.
