  • Military arrests Adam Schiff did anyone actually like Adam Schiff, reads a headline published on June 1 on a website called Restored Republic. A video below the headline criticizes Schiff, who led the prosecution in Donald Trump’s first impeachment trial over Ukraine. But it provides no evidence that he was arrested. This post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook .) The narrator in the video appears to read from a May 26 blog post about the military arresting Schiff on the site Real Raw News. We have previously debunked several similar baseless and fantastical stories on the site . Since the headline and video were posted on Restored Republic on June 1, Schiff, a Democratic congressman from California, has tweeted about two dozen times. His office has published four press releases . On June 15, an opinion piece he wrote about the Justice Department ran in the Washington Post . On June 20 he appeared on Face the Nation , sitting across from host John Dickerson. We searched for news coverage about the congressman’s supposed arrest and found nothing to support the claim. In December 2020, USA Today fact-checked a similar allegation that Schiff and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had been arrested. That was wrong, and so is this. We rate this post Pants on Fire! (en)
