An image shared on Instagram allegedly shows a tweet from the World Economic Forum (WEF) talking about harvesting children’s blood. Instagram/Screenshot Verdict: False There is no record of the WEF ever tweeting the statement. The tweet is fabricated. Fact Check: The WEF is an international organization that engages the foremost political, business, cultural and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas, according to its website . The supposed May 3 tweet , which seems like it was sent from the WEF’s verified Twitter account , has circulated on Facebook and Instagram lately. It includes what appears to be a link to a page on the WEF’s website. As new research suggests that the blood of prepubescent young people may possess significant anti-ageing properties, we ask: Why is there such a stigma surrounding harvesting children’s blood? reads the alleged tweet. The purported tweet, however, is fabricated. An advanced search of the WEF’s Twitter account yielded no results for it, and there isn’t any record of the tweet in archived versions of the organization’s Twitter timeline on the Wayback Machine. The shortened URL also does not direct viewers to any website. The WEF’s media team told Check Your Fact in an email that the tweet is not from the World Economic Forum. The fake tweet’s content appears to be connected to a conspiracy theory related to QAnon. The QAnon conspiracy theory baselessly claims America’s media and politics are controlled by a group of Satan-worshipping pedophiles, according to The New York Times . Last month, Check Your Fact debunked a viral claim that the WEF had tweeted about how age of consent laws may be infringing on human rights.
