  • A message circulating on Facebook and WhatsApp in Nigeria claims that application for Nigeria’s federal government survival fund for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) continues. Federal Government of Nigeria Survival fund Program for Nigerian Small and Medium Enterprises is ongoing, it reads. It includes a flier giving application guidelines and beneficiaries of the scheme, and a link to a website where people can supposedly apply for the scheme. Is the Nigerian government’s MSME survival fund still open? We checked. Scheme closed The link leads to a landing page with the headline MSME Survival Fund Program 2021 | survivalfund.gov.ng/. It also provides a URL to the government portal for applications for the survival fund. Africa Check visited the government’s portal for registrations under the scheme but the survival fund applications have closed . The project delivery office put out a public announcement on its dedicated Facebook page and it was also reported in the media that the registration portal would be reopened from 27 January 2021 to 2 February 2021 for the 30 states that were yet to meet their quota. The application for Nigeria’s federal government MSME survival fund has closed . Messages on social media claiming registration is ongoing are false. (en)
