  • Jobs jobs jobs! Over 1,000 vacancies available at Choppies Supermarkets across Kenya, read a post published on the Facebook page Choppies supermarket jobs kenya on 6 March 2019. But the page was a fraud and has since been deleted. It tried to impersonate the real Choppies Kenya Facebook page. The post linked to a job ad and application form hosted on Google Forms titled OFFICIAL CHOPPIES SUPERMARKETS JOBS 2019 . Africa Check has already exposed many fake ads that use Google Forms to fleece money – always a KSh350 application fee – from job-seekers. Again, this one said that for people to be considered for the 1,610 positions available, there was a price to pay. All applicants must pay a registration fee of Ksh350 only which is REFUNDABLE if you don’t qualify to get a job. (The 350 will be used to cater for CHOPPIES Membership Loyalty Card and training for those who will qualify to work with us). The wording is strikingly similar another fake advert Africa Check has debunked. ‘Choppies employs directly and does not use agents’ Africa Check asked Choppies Kenya about the ad. Choppies employs directly and does not use agents, the supermarket chain’s human resources manager Joshua Dudi Were told us. Were said when there were vacancies at Choppies, job applicants should send their applications to the official email [email protected] . The company only selects suitable candidates from this pool, Were said. We therefore condemn such fraudulent activities and they should not be associated with our company, he added. The Choppies Loyalty Card only earns points on shopping strictly to the extent of shopping without any extra charges. The retailer has also posted a warning about the fake advert on its official Facebook page . – Dancan Bwire (13/03/2019) (en)
