  • A Facebook post casts doubt on Nigeria’s response to the new coronavirus pandemic , saying Nigeria’s minister of health, Dr Osagie Ehanire , studied law and not medicine. The 13 March 2020 post reads: The worse part of this Coronavirus here in Nigeria is that, The Minister of Health studied Law. On 24 March, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control confirmed 42 cases of Covid-19 in the country, with one death . But is Ehanire, who is leading the Nigerian government’s response to the COVID-19 crisis, actually a lawyer? Minister’s profile says surgeon All published profiles of Ehanire say he is a Germany-trained surgeon. The 74-year-old minister studied at the College of Medicine at Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich, southern Germany. He had further medical training in Germany before returning to Nigeria in 1982 . Many different online sources confirm these details. There is no evidence Ehanire ever studied law. – Allwell Okpi (en)
