  • An image shared on a Facebook group page shows Uganda’s opposition candidate Robert Kyagulanyi , known as Bobi Wine, lifting up what looks like a campaign poster of the country’s president Yoweri Museveni . In the image , Wine is wearing a yellow beret with Museveni’s image, and not his party’s usual red beret . The group page where the image was posted has more than 208,000 members. It was shared in the group on 23 December 2020, but first posted on Facebook on 11 November. Uganda’s presidential election is scheduled for 14 January 2021. Did the opposition candidate display the incumbent’s campaign poster like a trophy? It is highly unlikely, but we checked. Image photoshopped We did a reverse image search on Google and found this photo of Wine, lifting a red book with the words National Unity Platform (NUP), Membership Register, and wearing his trademark red beret. The photo was posted to Wine’s official Twitter account on 3 August 2020. The tweet reads: Today, we received five Members of Parliament, four Mayors, Deputy Mayors and dozens of councillors who officially joined the National Unity Platform. We also launched nationwide registration of Members. Ours is a #Mission2Freedom. #PeoplePower_OurPower.
