  • The Royal British Legion will not be selling poppies in certain places this year due to upset minorities. This is incorrect. The Royal British Legion has routinely stated this is untrue. A Facebook post claiming that the Royal British Legion will not be selling poppies in certain areas due to them upsetting minorities has been shared over 2,000 times. This is incorrect. Similar claims are made each year about poppy distribution, and the charity has routinely stated that they are false. A representative for the charity told Full Fact: We are aware that there are statements online suggesting the poppy is not being offered in certain areas of the country. We'd like to reassure you that this is categorically untrue. We are proud to offer the poppy in every community in the UK — we always have been and always will be. This article is part of our work fact checking potentially false pictures, videos and stories on Facebook. You can read more about this—and find out how to report Facebook content—here. For the purposes of that scheme, we’ve rated this claim as false as the claim is unfounded. (en)
