  • IN SHORT: A Facebook page is offering what seem to be very good deals from Kenyan online shopping platform Copia Kenya. But the page is not in any way affiliated with the company, who warn it is a scam. A Facebook page called Copia Agent is offering a wide range of products at reduced prices from online shopping platform Copia Kenya . Among the products offered recently at attractive prices are different brands of TV and speaker systems. The account, which has posted offers since 7 July 2022, uses the logo of Copia Kenya on its profile photo section. It also features other graphics from the company . But is the Facebook page and the offers advertised on it legit? We checked. Fake Facebook page, fake offer The page-transparency section of the Facebook page shows it was created on 18 May 2022 and has about 1,500 followers. This section does not include any website, which would be unusual for a genuine company. No such offers are advertised on the verified Facebook page of Copia Kenya . We contacted the company on Facebook and showed them the Facebook page and the offers on it. We asked if they were legit. We do not have such a page. Kindly note that this post is not from us. There seems to be a group of scammers posing as Copia agents and scamming people, they told us. We only have one official page which is Copia Kenya and it is verified. For payments only use our till number 79985 or Pay bill 4068913 to avoid being conned, they said. Ignore offers too good to be true on social media – they usually are. (en)
