Verdict: False The image has been digitally altered. The original video does not show such a chyron. Fact Check: Truss became U.K. Prime Minister Sept. 6, replacing former Prime Minister Boris Johnson, according to ABC News . She met with Queen Elizabeth II two days before her death , whom the prime minister called the rock upon which modern Britain was built, Reuters reported. A Facebook image appears to show a BBC News chyron, dated Sept. 7, describing Liz Truss as a liar. Liz Truss (Newest Thatcher Regeneration) Lying begins as new liar becomes leader of party of lies the supposed chyron reads. The image is digitally fabricated. The original chyron appears during a BBC broadcast of Truss’ first appearance in Parliament as Prime Minister, reading her name and position, but making no reference about her personality. During the coverage, Truss was questioned by the Leader of the Opposition, Labour Member of Parliament Keir Starmer, on her tax plan . Starmer challenged her allegiance to working families by criticizing the plan that she laid out, saying it protects Shell’s profits and is a tax break for Amazon.
