  • Beware of crooks trying to scam money from jobless people looking for work. An advert offering 423 jobs at the Kenya Revenue Authority is circulating on Facebook. The ad, first posted on 24 February 2019, links to an application form hosted on Google docs. The form looks suspiciously like one from a fake ad for jobs at Kenyan supermarket chain Naivas, posted in early January. The latest form asks job-seekers to pay KSh350 to an Mpesa number for their application to be considered. This should be done by 18 March 2019. Africa Check has already debunked three job ad scams that asked unemployed people to pay a KSh350 application fee. One was for Naivas , another for the upcoming census , and the third for the Huduma Namba national identity project. Fake Facebook page The ad wasn’t posted on the official Facebook page of the Kenya Revenue Authority, @KRACare , which has 244,000 followers. It appeared instead on a fake page called KENYA Revenue Authority, or @kenyarevenueauthority , which has only 5,600 followers. The application form is still online, but the job ad has been deleted from the fake Facebook page . KRA warned people about the job scam on Twitter. KRA urges the public to ignore fake employment adverts being circulated by imposters, it said. All job vacancies are advertised on https:// kra.go.ke and national dailies where applicable. Please note that KRA does not require applicants to pay fees during the recruitment processes. KRA urges the public to ignore fake employment adverts being circulated by imposters.
