  • A website linked to from a now-deleted Facebook post claims to offer jobs at KenolKobil, a Kenya-based pan-African oil marketing company. But it’s not the company’s official website – and it’s a scam. MASSIVE JOB RECRUITMENT AT KENOL KOBIL PETROL STATION.!!!!! 9,400+ VACANCIES AVAILABLE, it says on the home page . A large red button leads to the apply now page, which gives details of the qualifications needed. It then gives the procedure of application . And here’s the catch. All first time applicants must BOOK their interviews by paying a registration fee of Ksh. 390, it says . Africa Check has exposed dozens of scams offering jobs that come with a dodgy registration or application fee . ‘We do not charge during recruitment’ KenolKobil has issued a statement on its Facebook and Twitter pages about fake job adverts on social media. KenolKobil is currently aware of false vacancy announcements that are being circulated through different websites and social media platforms, it reads . The purpose of such fraudulent activity is to deceive an individual and convince him/her to send a registration/booking fee prior to hiring. Please beware that they could also be looking to obtain your personal information for other fraudulent activities. KenolKobil does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process (application, interview or processing fee). Since KenolKobil logo is publicly available and can easily be copied or reproduced, applicants are strongly advised to take extra precaution in applying for vacancies. The website is just another job scam. – Dancan Bwire (en)
