  • A video shared on Instagram claims to show a Ukrainian buggy ambushing a Russian tank squad. Facebook/Screenshot Verdict: False The video was created by a Ukrainian digital artist. It does not show genuine footage of a Ukrainian ambush. Fact Check: Ukraine has destroyed thousands of Russian armored vehicles, according to Forbes . In the early days of the war, Ukraine often ambushed Russian convoys and vehicles, such as during the Battle of Kyiv, The Washington Post reported . The Instagram video claims to show a Ukrainian mini RC ambushing a tank fleet. The video shows a line of tanks moving on a road before a buggy shows and starts to fire into the tanks. This video, however, does not show genuine footage of a Ukrainian ambush. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the clip is from a project by Ukrainian digital artist Pavel Osadchiy . He shared stills from the project on Facebook in June. Unfortunately, my unfinished video with Banderamobil got online ahead of time. Originally, he was supposed to collect money for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Well that’s how it worked out, Osadchiy said. The clip was shared widely on social media in the summer of 2022, according to Newsweek . The claim appeared to have started on Telegram and spread on other platforms such as Twitter, the outlet reported. (RELATED: Did Ukraine Destroy A Train Carrying 1,000 Russian Troops?) Ukraine does use buggies and arms them with a variety of weapons. For example, the open-source intelligence (OSINT) Twitter account Ukraine Weapons Tracker shared a video in August of a buggy armed with a French Milan Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) launcher. #Ukraine : When you need very mobile firepower- a Ukrainian lightweight dune buggy with a French-donated MILAN 2 ATGM launcher mounted on the roof for rapid deployment against Russian armour. pic.twitter.com/htMxtyoUTl — 🇺🇦 Ukraine Weapons Tracker (@UAWeapons) August 24, 2022 #Ukraine : When you need very mobile firepower- a Ukrainian lightweight dune buggy with a French-donated MILAN 2 ATGM launcher mounted on the roof for rapid deployment against Russian armour, reads the tweet. This is the most recent example of misinformation linked to the Russian-Ukrainian war. Check Your Fact recently debunked a claim suggesting Ukraine destroyed a train carrying 1,000 Russian troops.
