  • A screenshot of what appears to be a Facebook post by the NTV Kenya channel quotes Kilifi county governor Amason Kingi as saying he will run for the county’s senate seat in the upcoming general elections, set for 9 August 2022 . It reads : ‘I will be vying for the Kilifi Senatorial seat this coming election. I will work closely with George Kithi. I have invested a lot in this County and it must be safeguarded. ~ Amason Jefwa Kingi. In their reactions , some users questioned the governor’s legacy . The screenshot was also posted on a public Facebook group page. But is it authentic? No evidence of quote The quote – or the governor’s intention to run for the senate – has not been reported by any credible media outlet. And it does not appear anywhere on Kingi’s verified Twitter account . On 22 January, NTV Kenya posted the screenshot on its Facebook and Twitter pages, stamped FAKE. pic.twitter.com/MchVRDr2Rz — NTV Kenya (@ntvkenya) January 22, 2022 Kingi did the same , simply writing Fake news.
