The power company introduced prepaid electricity tokens in 2009, saying they would help people control their electricity consumption and pay only for the power they used. But is the token offer genuine? ‘Beware of fraudsters’ Kenya Power Care, KPLC’s social media support team , dismissed the claim as fake. It posted a screenshot of a similar offer on Twitter, stamped BEWARE OF FRAUDSTERS. The tweet advised that people could access electricity tokens on the M-Pesa paybill number 888880. – Grace Gichuhi (en)
