  • Email to Cancel a Wedding Contract Claim Screenshots show a October 2021 email to photographer Tony Bendele, in which a couple purportedly canceled their booking over his Facebook posts. Rating Unknown Like this fact check? Reporting An October 11 2021 Facebook screenshot from a photographer named Tony Bendele — purportedly showing an email from a disgruntled bride and groom — spread virally when it was shared a day later to r/insanepeoplefacebook : Photographer posted this email he got from a couple who no longer want his services from insanepeoplefacebook The sender’s name and email address were redacted; Bendele’s was not. The email said: This email is to inform you that effective immediately, we are canceling your services as our wedding photographer on December 4th 2021 due to your political beliefs. After much consideration, we can not justify having a libtard work at our wedding. Your Facebook profile is a liberal cesspool and your values and morals do not meet our standards. You libtards enjoy people losing their jobs so think of this as us showing you what you idiots are doing to the rest of our country. We understand that per our contract, we must forfeit our deposit. However, we will fight the contract wording that requires us to pay in full if the cancelation is under 90 days. We will not support a Biden libtard business. Please confirm that you have received this cancelation notice and that you will not be showing up at our wedding. Florida is where wokes go to die... Please enable JavaScript Florida is where wokes go to die Sincerely, A proud American couple! Bendele shared the post (10:39 PM EST, or 22:39 in 24-hour format) shortly after the email was apparently sent (10:31 PM) and screenshotted (10:34 PM). Bendele’s status update alongside the screenshot expressed confusion: Wait...what?!? Are they serious? I’m not even a Biden supporter. This may very well be the most ridiculous business email I’ve ever received 🤣 Although Bendele’s Facebook post had roughly three dozen shares midday on October 12 2021, the r/insanepeoplefacebook thread about the screenshot received more than 12,000 upvotes and accumulated more than a thousand comments. We were unable to locate comments alleging the email was faked, but several readers opined that the email (if real) would likely assist Bendele in enforcing the terms of the contract: Alright, thanks for the deposit. Sincerely, a libtard. [...] Not just the deposit we will fight the contract wording that requires us to pay in full if the cancellation is under 90 days. The email‘s date is yesterday [October 11 2021]. 90 days from yesterday is in 2022. If the photographer really takes legal steps, they’ll have to pay full + court fees + new photographer (if they even find one in less than 2 months). But with all those fees heading their way, their photos will be taken on a phone camera anyways, I assume. So who’s the real idiot in this story? The photographer with the great contract, that now grants them free money or the nut jobs who are paying unnecessarily cause they apparently think that the photographer‘s political beliefs show up on their wedding photos. As of October 12 2021, Bendele’s email screenshot had been shared to several large, closed groups on Facebook, where we first began seeing it. Determining whether the email was real was virtually impossible short of the canceling couple stepping forward, and Bendele’s perplexed comment alongside the largely apolitical content of his page lent some credibility to the claim. In any event, the purported email’s popularity seemed in part to be attributable to the sender’s admission and reiteration of the terms of the contract — apparently leaving them liable for the full cost of the service, not just their deposit.
