A series of posts on the Facebook page Tuskys Supermarkets Recruitment claim the Kenyan supermarket chain is offering more than 3,000 jobs. They link to a Google form where job seekers can supposedly apply. The form lists the positions available – for cleaners and guards, delivery personnel, receptionists, accountants and many more. Are the job offers legit? We checked. ‘The advertisement is false’ The application procedure on the Google form says people must pay a KSh470 registration fee to apply. This is a clear sign of a scam. Africa Check found no job vacancies advertised on the official Tuskys website’s career section . A note on the page reads : We don’t have any job vacancy currently, follow our Social Media to get notified. We called the Tuskys head office to double-check if they were hiring. No, we are not hiring. That is fake. We normally advertise our jobs on Brighter Monday and on our website, an employee said. We also contacted Tuskys on Twitter . They replied: The advertisement charging applicants Ksh470 is false. Our official Job recruitment site is http://Careers.Tuskys.com , we have reported the same to Facebook and Google and no action has been taken. And on 24 June the supermarket announced it was letting some staff go after closing four branches. The shops were closed because of the economic effect of the Covid-19 pandemic . Tuskys is not hiring more than 3,000 new employees. – Grace Gichuhi
