  • A Facebook user has posted what he claims is the front page of Kenya’s Daily Nation newspaper for 9 June 2020. The headline reads : Maraga meets with Ruto. The kicker adds: Chief Justice met with Ruto to plot on dissolving parliament. Botching parliament will slow Uhuru's momentum. William Ruto is Kenya’s deputy president and David Maraga its chief justice . The post comes a day after Maraga accused president Uhuru Kenyatta of delaying the appointment of 41 new judges proposed by the Judicial Service Commission . Fake newspaper front pages have been circulating on Facebook in Kenya recently. Is this one of them? ‘Do not fall for fake headlines’ The real front page of the 9 June edition of the Daily Nation has the same photo, but a different headline. It reads : On whose side are you? CJ Maraga asks Uhuru. The kicker is: Chief Justice accuses President Kenyatta of disobeying court orders and going against the Constitution by failing to appoint 41 judges.
