On June 1, police officers fired tear gas canisters to disperse protesters in Washington, D.C. Less than 30 minutes later, President Donald Trump walked to visit St. John’s Church, near where the protesters had been. He was holding a Bible as his photo was taken in front of the church, which was damaged by a fire the previous night. His pose is similar to one Nazi leader Adolf Hitler can be seen striking in an old photo. In an image that has been shared widely on Facebook, Hitler is holding a book in the same hand as Trump as people salute him. The similarities are frightening, a June 2 Facebook post says. This post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook .) That’s because the image of Hitler has been doctored. In the original image, which you can view on Getty Images’ website , Hitler has his hand in the air but he’s not holding anything. The caption describes him as waving to thousands of supporters as they give him the Nazi salute. We rate this photo False.
