Former President Richard Nixon resigned from office in 1974 following the Watergate scandal, and it’s not a distinction he shares with any other person to serve as commander in chief of the United States. And yet, a recent Facebook post claims that President Joe Biden has not only resigned — former President Donald Trump has succeeded him. Resign has been confirmed Trump is the new president, the June 7 Facebook post says. It was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook .) RELATED VIDEO Biden has not resigned. In fact, the day of this Facebook post he spoke publicly and signed several pieces of legislation. As for Trump, while speculation continues to abound about whether he might run for another presidential term, he is, as of now, a former president, and he hasn’t replaced Biden.
