  • A photo of a massive crowd filling a wide boulevard all the way into the distance was posted on Facebook on 14 July 2022 with the claim that it shows the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rally held in Nigeria’s Osun state that day. The photo appears on the Facebook page Osun State P.D.P . Its caption reads : Osun state PDP mega rally today in osogbo. Ademola Adeleke Issa goal. The rally was for the PDP governorship candidate, senator Ademola Adeleke. It was attended by Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, as well as Delta state governor and PDP vice presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa. Adeleke was declared winner of the Osun governorship election on 18 July. But does the photo really show the rally on 14 July? Worshippers observe Eid-el Kabir prayer in Kwara state The post doesn’t give the source of the photo. Using Google reverse image search , we discovered that the photo was not taken at the PDP rally in Osun state. The earliest version we could find was posted on Twitter on 9 July with the caption : Happy Celebrations! The Kwara state government also tweeted the photo , on the same day. The tweet reads : Worshippers in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Saturday turned out en masse to observe the Eid-el Kabir prayer, with Governor @RealAARahman clearly setting the ground for a peaceful atmosphere with his open exchange of pleasantries with leading opposition figures #EidMubarak.
