  • An image shows Israelis dressing up as the burning Twin Towers for the Jewish holiday Purim. Incorrect. The picture is of two students who wore the costumes for Halloween at a nightclub in Chester, England. An image, claiming to show Israelis dressed up as the burning Twin Towers for the Jewish holiday Purim, has been shared over 1,300 times on Facebook. The image actually shows two University of Chester students who wore the costumes to a nightclub for Halloween in 2013. It was widely covered by the press as the time, including on the Sun’s front page. This article is part of our work fact checking potentially false pictures, videos and stories on Facebook. You can read more about this—and find out how to report Facebook content—here. For the purposes of that scheme, we’ve rated this claim as false as the image is not what it says it is. (en)
