  • Facebook posts purporting to advertise free nursing training opportunities in South Africa have gained hundreds of interactions. The claims allege that Netcare, a private healthcare facility in South Africa, is offering the placements to unemployed South Africans. This post circulating in Tanzania has a different external link to a form requesting users to share private information. However, none of the external links leads to an official contact page belonging to NetCare. NetCare communications manager Marietjie Shelly confirmed that the advert was a scam. This is a scam advert and not true. It is sad that unscrupulous scammers are trying to mislead people, Shelly told AFP Fact Check. Meggan Saville of Martina Nicholson Associates, the law firm representing NetCare, said this was not the first time the company had appeared in fake adverts.
