A post with a graphic reading Depopulation test run in Mexico has been shared more than 6,500 times on Facebook. It was recently flagged as possibly false by the social network’s fact-checking system , sending an alert for Africa Check to investigate . The post links to an article by Mike Adams on the website Humans are Free , headlined 75% of children who received vaccines in Mexican town now dead or hospitalised. The article, published in 2016, includes the graphic alleging a depopulation test. The latest vaccine tragedy to strike has killed two babies in La Pimienta, Mexico and sent 37 more to the hospital with serious reactions to toxic vaccine additives, Adams writes . ‘Cull the human population’ The article also appears on the known quack health site Natural News, which Adams runs , under the headline Depopulation test run? It’s been republished by the Progressive Radio Network , founded by US alternative medicine guru and Aids denier Gary Null . And it appears on the website of David Icke, known for his many dubious theories : that the world is secretly run by alien lizards , climate change is a hoax , and more . In his article, Adams claims vaccines are by far the best way to cull the human population because most people can be tricked into lining up and asking for them. But what really happened in Mexico? Vaccines contaminated by bacteria In May 2015 , 52 babies from the towns of La Pimienta, San Jose and San Antonio del Monte were vaccinated against tuberculosis, rotavirus and hepatitis B. Two of the babies died , and 29 were hospitalised, with 27 soon discharged in good health. (Thirty-one of the 52 children were affected, or 60% – not 75% as claimed.) According to the Mexican Institute of Social Security, the batch of vaccines the 31 babies were given had been contaminated , possibly during the handling or application procedure, by the bacterium staphylococcus hominis . This is a germ commonly found on the skin. The two babies died , and the 29 others were hospitalised, because of sepsis . This is a severe and sometimes fatal infection by bacteria . The tragedy was not caused by the vaccines. The contaminated batch was in the hepatitis B vaccine. A total of 100,000 uncontaminated doses of this vaccine had previously been administered throughout Mexico with no adverse reactions. The World Health Organization lists vaccine hesitancy as one of the top 10 threats to global health in 2019 – alongside HIV, Dengue fever, climate change, antibiotic resistance and Ebola. – Africa Check https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/vaccines-do-not-cause-autism/ https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/no-german-supreme-court-didnt-rule-that-measles-doesnt-exist/
