  • An image shared on Facebook claims President Joe Biden said Russian President Vladimir Putin should resign and give way to younger politicians. Facebook/Screenshot Verdict: False There is no record of Biden saying the quote. Fact Check: The Facebook image includes two photos: one of Biden speaking, with an alleged quote reading, Putin should resign and give way to younger politicians, and a second photo showing Putin smiling and covering his face. Biden is currently 78 years old , while Putin is 68. There is no record, however, of Biden making the statement attributed to him in the Facebook post. Check Your Fact searched press releases and statements published on the White House website, but found no instances of the quote. A search of Factba.se , a website that hosts archives of Biden’s remarks and speeches, likewise did not yield any results for the alleged remark. Check Your Fact also looked through Biden’s verified Twitter accounts , as well as ProPublica’s archive of his deleted tweets, but did not find any indication the president called for Putin to resign to give way to younger politicians. A readout of Biden’s April 13 call with Putin did not show the president making the purported comment either.
