On September 7, the head of Myanmar’s military government, Min Aung Hlaing, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Russia.The two leaders used the forum, intended to ramp up investment in Russia’s Far East, to attack the West and counter criticism of their use of military force (Russia against Ukraine, Myanmar against its own people).This was Min Aung Hlaing’s second visit to Russia this summer and his third since leading a military coup in February 2021 to oust elected Myanmar leaders.
