  • A post on the Facebook page Kenya Airways jobs claims to offer some 1,700 jobs at the national airline. JKIA wishes to announce to the general public of age between 18 to 50 years of a massive recruitment of vacant positions in all airports and airstrips in Kenya for qualified and competent staff, it reads . JKIA stands for Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya’s capital. But the post is a money-making scam. Signs of a scam: Google form, M-Pesa payment Like dozens of similar scams Africa Check has exposed before, the post links to a Google form where, it claims, job seekers can apply. And here’s the catch. The registration procedure on the Google form is to the point – it asks for KSh350, to be paid via the M-Pesa mobile money transfer app: REGISTRATION PROCEDURE 1. Go to your M-PESA menu, 2. Send Money 3. Enter phone no: 0***64**80( JOSIA MULANDO OKOYO, recruitment officer). 4. Enter the amount Ksh. 350 5. Your M-PESA PIN and confirm to send money. Is Kenya Airways hiring, at a cost of KSh350 for each application? ‘Fraudulent recruitment by external parties’ To all our current and future job seekers, please be advised against the unfortunate practice of fraudulent recruitment by external parties. Open the attachment for our official statement, Kenya Airways tweeted on their verified Twitter account on 11 November 2019. Kenya Airways would like to advise all job seekers that our job vacancies and instructions on the application process are available on our official website and owned social media platforms, the statement reads . We do not require any payment at any stage of the recruitment process and our vacant positions are sources based on individual merit. We therefore will not be held liable for any loss or damages caused as a result of fraudulent activities by individuals or agencies purporting to be acting on behalf of Kenya Airways. – Grace Gichuhi Further reading : https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/scam-carrefour-kenya-exposes-fraudulent-job-ad-on-facebook/ https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/scam-alert-no-ksh500-application-fee-for-kenyan-uwezo-fund-loans/ https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/scam-alert-kenyan-bank-warns-of-fraudulent-loan-ads-on-facebook/ https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/scam-alert-fraudsters-post-another-fake-huduma-kenya-job-ad-on-facebook/ https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/scam-alert-ignore-fake-advert-for-graduate-trainee-jobs-at-kenyas-tax-agency/ https://africacheck.org/fbcheck/beware-no-massive-job-recruitment-at-kenyas-jomo-kenyatta-airport/ (en)
