  • The Facebook page World Vision E.Africa seems to represent the development organisation – but it’s a scam. It copies and pastes real posts from the official Facebook page of World Vision Uganda , but that’s so it can con people with fake job ads. The scam Facebook page’s most recent post offers 150 paid internships at World Vision Uganda. It directs job seekers to a website where they can supposedly apply. But the site is a Google blog page , not World Vision Uganda’s official website . How to spot a fake page On the blog page, job seekers are required to enter their personal information. This could be an attempt at identity theft. The fake Facebook page was created on 19 November 2019 and has fewer than 170 followers. The real World Vision Uganda Facebook page was created on 6 November 2015 and has more than 28,000 followers. The organisation’s website links to this page. ‘Please disregard it’ World Vision Uganda has warned the public about the fake page. This post has been going around on social media in the last few days but it's a hoax; please disregard it, the organisation posted on Facebook . Advertisements for positions can only be found on our official World Vision International career website http://careers.wvi.org . It added : World Vision does not, and will never solicit money for any part of its recruitment processes including short-listing, interviews, background, and/or medical check-ups.
