Fact Check: Humans most recently landed on the moon in 1972 as part of NASA’s Apollo 17 mission, according to NPR . The next lunar mission involving humans is scheduled for 2025, Reuters reported. A video shared on Facebook suggests humans might not be the only living creature to have walked on the moon. The video shows what appears to be a humanoid figure walking and crouching on the surface of the moon while a voice can be heard seemingly discussing the creature. The video is digitally fabricated and is not from NASA. A reverse image search traced the supposed footage back to a YouTube video from September 2015, uploaded by user MeniThings . The channel identifies itself on its website as a production company focused on live-action and animated projects. The production company notes in the video’s description that the footage is Part of the Project Blue Book short film series. The company’s YouTube channel features other installments in the series as well. The voice featured in the video stems from a recording of late astronaut Pete Conrad during the Apollo 12 mission’s November 1969 descent to the lunar surface. Conrad’s comments were referring to an area where the Apollo 12 landing module would touch down on the moon minutes later, according to NASA records .
