  • Kenya’s biggest milk processor, Brookside Dairy , is now one of the many public and private companies targeted by fraudsters in fake recruitment ads doing rounds on Facebook. The phony Brookside ad was posted on a Facebook page with close to 23,000 followers. It’s similar to job ads Africa Check has already exposed as scams. These include fake adverts for East Africa Breweries Limited , Huduma Kenya , Kenya Revenue Authority , Tuskys Supermarket and Choppies Supermarket Kenya . The Brookside ad has been running on the page since 30 September 2018 . It was most recently posted on 22 March 2019 . Like the other scams, it links to an application form on Google Forms . Applicants to pay KSh300 for registration Job-seekers are asked to pay a KSh300 registration fee to apply, and told only those who pay will be considered. Like the other ads - and perhaps to give false hope - the ad says the money will be refunded if you don’t qualify to get a job. The Google Form is headed with the Brookside Dairy Limited logo. The jobs advertised include cleaners and guards, technicians, customer care, receptionists and more. Work begins immediately for those who will meet required qualifications, the ad says . Brookside ‘doesn’t advertise vacancies on Facebook’ Africa Check contacted Brookside human resources manager Grace Wambui Manugu to find out if the advert was theirs. Please note that we have not advertised and we do not do so on Facebook, she told us. Interested applicants can send their applications through [email protected] for any future opportunity within the company. - Dancan Bwire (08/04/2019) (en)
