  • Democratic Livermore Mayor Marshall Kamena on Donald Trump-Incorrect Attribution! Democratic Livermore Mayor Marshall Kamena on Donald Trump- Incorrect Attribution! Summary of eRumor: A column attributed to Dr. Marshall Kamena, a registered Democrat and the elected mayor of Livermore, California, defends President Trump’s lack of decorum. The Truth: Conservative author Evan Sayet wrote this column on President Trump — not former Livermore Mayor Dr. Marshall Kamena. The column appeared at Town Hall in July 2017 under the headline, He Fights . In November 2017, the column was incorrectly attributed to Marshall Kamen in forwarded emails and social media posts. Often appearing with the subject line, One Man’s Opinion, the email begins with this intro: Liberals.... please do not read. Marshall Kamena is a registered democrat and was elected mayor of Livermore, CA. He ran on the democratic ticket as he knew a Bay Area city would never vote for a republican. He is as conservative as they come. He wrote the following and it is a good read. Righting-thinking people, the column continues, have tried dignity. President George W. Bush’s quiet dignity led to outrageous lies and politically motivated hatreds. U.S. Sen. John McCain’s collegiality and Mitt Romney’s propriety met similar ends. Because, the column concludes, those men were playing by the rules of dignity that the Left abandoned 60 years earlier. Unlike Trump. A column defending President Trump’s lack of decorum has been incorrectly attributed to former Livermore Mayor Marshall Kamena. Of course, these are the author’s personal opinions. We don’t fact-check opinions. But, again, we can confirm that conservative author Evan Sayet wrote the column . It’s not clear how the column was falsely attributed to Marshall Kamena. It’s possible that Kamena forwarded the email or reposted the commentary, and someone who mistakenly thought it was written by him passed it along with incorrect attribution. Marshall Kamena served as mayor of Livermore from 2001-2011, and as a council member from 1976-1985. However, the commentary’s claim that Kamena ran on the democratic ticket despite being as conservative as the come doesn’t stack up. Regardless of his political leanings, Kamena would not have run as a Democrat because the Livermore mayor is a non-partisan office.
