A job advert on social media claims Kenya’s National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) is looking to recruit thousands of people for various positions. The advert headed National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) entry level job opportunities 2019 was posted on Facebook on 21 July 2019 and again on 24 July . It claims 9,910 jobs are available. The advert was also sent to Africa Check’s Kenyan WhatsApp group. The ad says the NHIF jobs available include 1,312 positions in finance and accounting, 1,312 in media and publicity,1,214 in administration, 980 in strategy and planning, and more. The advert includes the NHIF logo and slogan, and the organisation’s mission statement . Clues the advert is fake Neither of the two emails provided, [email protected] and [email protected] , have been used in genuine job ads issued by the NHIF. And the ad has not been published in any of the newspapers the NHIF normally uses for recruitment. It also doesn’t appear on the fund’s official Facebook and Twitter accounts. There is currently only one job ad on the careers section the NHIF website, for chief executive officer , posted on 24 July. Here the email for applications is [email protected] People can also deliver hardcopy applications to the organisation’s Nairobi offices. ‘Advert is a hoax and should be ignored’ The NHIF has since branded the social media ads as fake and cautioned the public against them. The National Hospital Insurance Fund wishes to notify members of the public that the job advertisement making rounds on social media titled ‘National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) entry level job opportunities 2019’ has not been placed by NHIF, reads the notice posted on its official Facebook page. The advertisement is a HOAX and should be ignored. On Twitter it adds: All relevant government agencies have been informed and are pursuing the culprits. – Dancan Bwire
