  • IN SHORT: With more than 6,000 employees it is likely that the Kenyan supermarket chain would hire often. But these jobs posted on Facebook are a scam. An ad posted on Facebook claims that Kenyan supermarket chain Quickmart is hiring. The January 2023 ad , published across different Facebook groups, reads: QUICKMART SUPERMARKET 2022 /2023 JOBS VACANCIES...(Salary between 35000 to 60000). Several positions are then listed, including cashiers, cleaners, warehouse supervisors and fleet mechanics. Those interested are asked to send a message to a phone number, starting the message with BOOK ME. The ad also appears here , here , here , here , and here . But is the supermarket chain, which has 55 branches and more than 6,000 employees , adding to its workforce? We checked. Signs of fake ad It is suspicious that while the ad is the same, different people have posted it on Facebook, giving different contact numbers. And none of the numbers we saw are listed on the retailer’s official website . There is no mention of any open positions on the Quickmart website , official Facebook page and Twitter account . Africa Check contacted Quickmart to find out if the recruitment drive is legit. The supermarket chain dismissed these reports as a scam. Please disregard any job related posts that are not on the Quickmart website or our official social media pages, they responded. Any job openings shall be announced on our social media pages and website. This is a scam.
