  • A graphic posted on Facebook shows what looks like the results of an opinion poll, claiming to rank those running for governor in Mombasa county in Kenya’s 2022 general elections. Mombasa is 480 kilometres southeast of the capital Nairobi, on the Indian Ocean coast. The graphic features the logo of NTV Kenya , a Kenyan television station, as though it was published by the station. The polling results rank the candidates in the six constituencies in the county – Mvita, Kisauni, Changamwe, Nyali, Likoni and Jomvu. It shows Hassan Omar , the candidate for the United Democratic Alliance , leading in four constituencies. Abdulswamad Sherrif Nassir , the candidate for the Orange Democratic Movement , leads in Mvita, and in Changamwe, Mike Sonko is in the lead, the candidate for the Wiper Democratic Movement . According to the graphic, the poll was released on 1 June 2022. It was also published here , here , here , here , here and here . But was the graphic published by NTV Kenya? We checked. ‘Fake’ NTV Kenya posted the graphic on their official Twitter account stamped FAKE. Please treat this as fake news, tweeted NTV Kenya. There is no evidence that the poll is in any way accurate. (en)
