  • Two photos of cities have been shared on a Kenyan Facebook group page with the claim they show the capitals of Kenya and Uganda. Beautiful Nairobi city Kenya vs Kampala omutowuni Uganda, the caption reads . The second photo does look like Kampala, but the one said to be Nairobi was suspicious. Tall buildings that usually stand out on the city’s skyline – such as the Kenyatta International Convention Centre and the Times Tower – can’t be seen. Nairobi? Osaka, Japan A reverse image search for the first photo confirmed our suspicion. It actually shows Japan’s city of Osaka. The photo is available on stock image site Shutterstock . It’s captioned: OSAKA, JAPAN - DECEMBER 24, 2013: A highway running through an office building in the Umeda district. A search for the second photo shows it is indeed Uganda’s capital, Kampala. The photo has been published on the Independent , a Ugandan news website. The National Social Security Fund building , a fixture of Kampala’s skyline, is unmissable while the large crowd was reported as being due to a street party. – Dancan Bwire (en)
