The Facebook page Doers TV has posted a photo of a burning plane with the claim it’s a South African aircraft set on fire by airport staff in Zambia. The post has been shared more than 800 times. Several comments approve of the supposed arson as retaliation for the xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Brief flare from US plane But a Google reverse image search reveals the photo is more than four years old. It was snapped by a traveller in August 2015 when a Delta-operated SkyWest plane briefly emitted flames on the tarmac of Nashville International Airport in the US state of Tennessee. The fire from the CRJ-200 aircraft was said to be due to small excess fuel in the tailpipe of the engine being expunged from the rear of the engine. – Jennifer Ojugbeli
