A video shared on Facebook claims to show footage of a fierce firefight that took place in Ukraine. The nine-minute video takes the point of view of a soldier who, at the start of the clip, is firing a heavy machine gun into a nearby wooded area. However, the video actually shows American soldiers, not Ukrainian or Russian, and predates the conflict in Ukraine. A keyword search revealed that the footage was shared on YouTube in October 2018 with the title Afghanistan Combat US Army Intense A-10 Air Support. This video features the close air support and excellent use of an A-10 Warthog aircraft. A shorter version of the footage was also shared on YouTube in November 2012 and was the subject of a 2012 Business Insider article. Notably, English is spoken and heard throughout the video and the U.S. flag is visible on the arm patches of some soldiers. While some U.S. troops have been stationed in Europe, there are no active members of the army in Ukraine at this time, CNN reported.
