In June 2020, a rumor spread on social media that toy brand LEGO was pulling playsets from stores that featured police, firefighters, and the White House. A widely shared example was posted on the Twitter account of Brad Parscale, U.S. President Donald Trump's campaign manager. Parscale wrote: But according to LEGO this report was false. A spokesperson for LEGO explained that the toy company had simply paused digital marketing in light of nationwide protests against police violence and the death of George Floyd, an African American man who died in custody after a former Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck.
