  • The Facebook page Careers Available advertises jobs at South African retailer PEP and food manufacturer Danone . Applicants are offered salaries between R7,500 and R8,500 a month with no qualifications or much experience needed. But the page shows all the signs of being a scam – like the many Africa Check has previously exposed. Dodgy website doesn’t match Facebook page The job offers both link to the same Wordpress website , which also advertises vacancies at various companies. But the jobs listed on the website do not match those on the Facebook page . Both of the adverts say to work drop ur number down here I will call u. This is a form of engagement bait – posts that ask people to like, share, or comment on a post in order to increase its reach. This coupled with the poor grammar are both common signs of job scams. Neither of the job adverts say where the stores are located. The Danone advert states THURSDAY WE WILL BE OPENING NEW BRANCH but does not specify which Thursday or where this branch will be opened. The Danone advert is a repost of an ad published on 16 April 2021. Danone’s website warns potential applicants of recruitment scams, stating that they only accept applications through their designated career website . Please note that a member of the Danone Southern Africa Human Resources team will never ask you to provide personal information other than your name, CV and/or letter of recommendation, the website says . When you see a job advertised on Facebook make sure that the link takes you to the company’s official website and do not provide any personal information in the comment section. (en)
