  • A photo shared with a Kenyan Facebook group shows dozens of small kids in front of a run-down building. Part of the sagging thatch roof is missing, and there are large gaps in the structure’s mud walls. Kanyamony Primary School in Sugoi Uasin Gishu, the caption reads . Somebody should do something to help these poor kids to have better classrooms. Is the school in Kenya’s Uasin Gishu county? We checked Ugandan school, now improved Using a reverse image search , Africa Check found the photo on the website of the Power Minds Youth Organization , a community based organisation registered in Uganda. The photo was used in an article on education infrastructure in Uganda. Its caption reads: Photo of a school in Rukungiri with no classroom. Rukungiri is a district in western Uganda. We contacted Power Minds to ask if the school was in Uganda. This was a school in western Uganda but it was now rebuilt into an improved structure, the organisation’s social media department told Africa Check. It's no longer applicable in that situation so feel free to take it down. – Dancan Bwire (en)
