Donald Trump Jr. has started selling T-shirts on his website mocking the recent fatal movie set shooting when actor Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun, but a statement attributed to his father appears to be inauthentic. An image of the statement with former President Donald Trump’s Save America letterhead dated Oct. 27 reads: A great president (me) once said ‘I could shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters.’ Now Alec Baldwin, a total loser, has taken his impression of me to a new low by testing out this theory. Alec, you aren’t me! Now you’re going to prison, as you should have because of that awful, terrible job you did on SNL (which I have hosted). This post was flagged as part of Facebook’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed. (Read more about our partnership with Facebook .) Nine statements were published on Trump’s website on Oct. 27. He mused about taxes , a political rally in Virginia , gas prices , a New York Post story , a Red State story , an American Greatness story , Sen. Chuck Grassley , another New York Post story , and immigrants at the border . Searching the site we found only one statement that mentions Baldwin. In June, Trump wrote that Baldwin has no talent, certainly when it comes to imitating me. When we searched the internet more broadly for a statement from Trump that began a great president (me) once said, we found images on meme sites but nothing official from the former president. We rate this post False.
