On June 13, 2020, Daily World Update published an article positing that NASCAR was banning MAGA hats and other political clothing at their events: This item was not a factual recounting of real-life events. The article originated with a website that describes its output as being humorous or satirical in nature, as follows: NASCAR truly announced in June 2020 that it was banning the display of Confederate flags. In the days following this announcement, false rumors were circulated about NASCAR banning the national anthem, prayer, and military flyovers.
