  • Kenya’s major airport has been targeted in the latest job scam on Facebook. A post links to a form falsely advertising jobs at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport . A Facebook user posted the link on 8 May 2019. Africa Check also found older links posted on Facebook groups in September and October 2018, and another posted by a user in February 2018. Like other fake job ads Africa Check has exposed , the link is to a Google Form that applicants have to fill in and submit. But there is a cost. All applicants must pay a registration fee of KSh300 to stand a chance of consideration. Only applicants who have paid registration fee will be considered, the form stresses. An M-Pesa number is provided, supposedly for the chief recruitment officer. ‘We do not charge during recruitment’ Africa Check asked Diana Chedi of the airport’s customer service department about the ad. The airport is managed by the Kenya Airports Authority . Chedi said the authority does not advertise its jobs on social media. And it doesn’t ask job seekers to pay any money when they apply. We do not charge any amount during the recruitment process, she said. Secondly, we do not advertise through social media rather through our official KAA website, www.kaa.go.ke , and through the main local dailies.
